Across The Board is an indie music project based in Toronto, Canada with an acoustic sound blending elements of classic rock with contemporary pop. Creators of the weekly live session web series “Pick Up and Play”, ATB members produce one-take acoustic covers of popular songs each week from their studio in North York. Top ten on the Reverbnation charts for Indie, with over a dozen singles available on iTunes and other digital outlets, Across The Board is capturing an international audience with their digital presence.
“For us, in place of setting up in local clubs and playing for a few hundred folks at a time, we have created the opportunity to play for thousands on line each week with our Youtube series,” says Jackie Auguste, lead singer and cowriter of ATB’s originals, “Toronto Listen Up” and “Runnin”. “We’ve been able to reach fans as far away as Saudi Arabia and as close as down the street without leaving the studio”, adds Auguste. That’s not to say the group doesn’t emerge from behind the camera—ATB plays local festivals and events in and around Toronto, and is currently in the process of writing a new album which will have them out on tour when released.
Band members include drummer Paul Nanuwa, who also plays with Trouble and Daughter, and Kidd Rasta and The Peacemakers; guitarist and mastermind mixer/producer Thomas Smith, percussionist and bass Andy Ramjattan, guitarist/vocals Parry Nitchos, guitarist/vocalist Julian Peter; Jacqueline Auguste vocalist/multi instrumentalist; and others who visit the ATB sessions from time to time including Kat Webber, Tamara Jacqueline, Catalina Auguste and the extremely talented Billy Marr of Trouble and Daughter/Belle Ayre, and Mirian Kay of Crooked House Road. “Across The Board as a project is collaborative and a fun place to get creative—sky is the limit for what we’ll try to do in a live session on camera”, says Andy Ramjattan who is one of the original founders of the band. “From Beatles to Christina Perri and even Michael Buble, we’ll throw an ATB spin on just about anything for the show”.
Across The Board films and records weekly Pick Up and Play webisodes Sunday evening and releases them to their YouTube Channel each Saturday. You can find them scattered around social media and listen to their tunes on SoundCloud.com or Reverbnation. Watch the weekly webseries on Youtube at atbmusiccanada.
